Over the years all over the world every living being has been experiencing the adverse effects with regards to temperature levels, heat waves, cyclone and floods, reduced greener spaces, loss of biodiversity, air and water pollution, increased urbanization.
‘Creation’- God’s gift to mankind is taken for granted so much so that even the voiceless living beings are facing the threat of survival. We are solely responsible for it.
Children are facing a huge price for climate changes. The impact of climate changes is affecting and is going to affect poorer sections more.
Good Shepherd Parish aims at reducing carbon footprints, composting wet waste, recycling of plastic and e waste, using bio-degradable and eco-friendly products and carrying out measures that will help in protecting the environment. The objective is to Refuse- Reuse-Recycle-Reduce and doing this create a have a positive impact on our environment.
The Green Cell was formed in July 2022. It is registered with Bisleri for Plastic recycling and Eco Reco for e-waste recyling. The parish has recycled 843 kilos of plastic and 99 kilos of e-waste from commencement till July 2024. The parish also composts wet waste.
The team comprises of 8 members. Under the guidance and leadership of Fr.Joseph Mathew the team is working on implementing ways and means to “GO GREEN” in the true sense.
