We live in a society that, day by day, labels itself as “secular” anything religious is kept at a distance.People often question the relevance of our faith and more often than not the observance of our faith becomes an individual choice where the communitarian dimension is often seen as unnecessary.
We need to understand the context, influences and concerns of our people and engage them in effective and relevant communication. Communication is vitally important in today’s world and it is about more than just exchanging information.
Using the media to communicate, enhances connectivity with people locally, regionally, nationally and even internationally.
Social media thus plays a crucial role as a medium of communication. Information technology and social media platforms can be a powerful tool for this mission as we live in a time of intact communication where everyone responds to messages, tweets and updates, thus enabling instant sharing. It is effective and essential for the church to provide information about our faith as well as share about church related activities.
With this in mind, Good Shepherd Parish announced its Parish Media Cell (erstwhile known as the Parish Communication Cell), effective from August 2018. Its aim is to effectively use the parish social media applications like Face book, Instagram, Whats app, You Tube, Parish Website:- www.goodshepherdandheri.in.
The team comprises of 9 members and provides inputs that include content, posters, reels, memes, videos etc. The parish events and SCC community and zonal activities as well as upcoming events and activities are collated, edited and forwarded on the social media accounts of the parish.
Through these various social media platforms the team’s objective is to connect with the parish as a whole as well as encourage feedback and suggestions from parishioners, activate them to a higher level of improvement and participation in Parish programs.
