Parish vision

Families in communion with God

“Families in communion with God, leading to vibrant communities and empowering the needy.”

Good Shepherd Church is a welcoming Catholic parish where prayer becomes service, families grow in faith and every person is invited to participate in the life of the Church.

Our history

From a small unit to a vibrant parish

The journey began in 1976 as the Catholic population around Four Bungalows grew. Fr. Donald Rodriguez was asked to pioneer a church for the spiritual needs of the area. The sisters of Good Shepherd Convent offered accommodation and their small hall for Mass.

The unit was registered as a Trust in November 1976. After years of prayer, planning and fundraising, the foundation stone was laid on 25 April 1982. The church, designed by Fr. J. M. Carsi, SJ, was blessed and inaugurated on 16 February 1985, when the Good Shepherd unit was canonically raised to a parish by Archbishop Simon Pimenta.

Over the decades, parish priests, religious sisters, cells, associations and Small Christian Communities helped the parish grow. Stained-glass windows, parish facilities, community welfare initiatives, formation programmes and vibrant liturgies reflect the generosity of generations of parishioners.

Today, forty years later, Good Shepherd Church continues its mission as a contemporary and caring parish, grateful for its humble beginnings and guided by the Spirit of God.
