Media / Communication Cell
Sharing parish faith, events and activities through communication and media.
About Media / Communication Cell
We live in a society that, day by day, labels itself as “secular”, where anything religious is kept at a distance. People often question the relevance of our faith. More often than not, the observance of our faith becomes an individual choice, and its communitarian dimension is seen as unnecessary. We need to understand the context, influences and concerns of our people and engage them in effective and relevant communication. Information technology and social media platforms can be powerful tools for this mission. We live in a time of instant communication, when people respond to messages, tweets and updates, enabling instant sharing. It is essential for the church to provide information about our faith and share church-related activities.
Keeping this in mind, our parish received a directive from the Archbishop that all parishes in the diocese should encourage the use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and websites for parish-related events and activities. With the guidance of Fr. Prakash Rumao and Fr. Savio Lobo, the Good Shepherd Parish Communication Cell was formed. It comprises 10 advisory members of our parish. The team provides content, posters, banners, videos and other material, and supervises the media implementation team.
The church has its own Facebook page, ‘Good Shepherd Church’, and an Instagram account, ‘good shepherd_andheri’, which are already operational. Upcoming events and activities are shared on Facebook and Instagram. The website is www.goodshepherdandheri.in. Through the website, a database of parishioners is built up. Apart from personal details such as names, addresses and communities, the information sought includes parishioners’ interest in volunteering for parish-related activities.
Priests in Charge: Fr. Prakash Rumao and Fr. Savio Lobo.
Lay Coordinator: Jasmine Nair.
